A native of Pittsburgh, I returned home in 2005, after spending four years in Ohio attending Kenyon College (B.A, Biology). Upon my return, I earned a M.S. from Duquesne University in Environmental Science and Management; there, I gained valuable experience studying Environmental Law and Regulatory issues, organizational and sustainable business practices, carbon footprinting methodologies, and Environmental Management Systems. In my second year, as a Graduate Assistant, I conducted a Greenhouse Gas Emissions inventory for the University in partial fulfillment of the degree requirements. As an undergraduate I pursued anything excusing me from the confines of a classroom; resulting in my study of biology, membership on the Men’s lacrosse team, and floats down the local river.
I believe strongly in preserving Earth’s natural resources, beauty, and health (on which we depend). Such a belief guides most daily personal and work interests. Additionally, I’ve been studying colleges and universities obligation toward sustainable leadership; as they provide a dynamic interface for research and practice and have the ability to transcend generations. These days, in my spare time, I like to read, eat, see my family, exercise (play basketball), and walk my dog in the evenings.
Since joining evolve environment::architecture I have had the opportunity to engage clients in pursuing LEED Existing Building certification, develop green operational policy and management strategies, and continue to stay engaged with College and University campus Sustainability Planning efforts.
evolve provides a natural convergence of professional and personal interests; more specifically, those related to living more sustainably, local environmental policy, and a ten minute daily commute (walking or biking of course). I also appreciate working with both designers and engineers as it continues to broaden and strengthen my perspectives.
