A realistic idealist, Stephen recognizes that businesses possess the most potent means for addressing sustainability issues at the local, national and international levels, and can gain strategic value in the process. A recent graduate of Duquesne’s Sustainable MBA Program (SMBA), and a not so recent graduate from Penn State’s Psychology Program (BA), Stephen brings a diverse education and work background that uniquely positions him to recognize opportunities for sustainable change, and to develop the necessary processes to pursue them.
Stephen has extensive project management and consulting experience, and has worked with multi-nationals, non-profits, large and small municipalities and local universities. Although diverse, his unique project experience has taught him one thing; that the consulting process is always driven by the client’s motivations and goals. Stephen is a trained carbon modeler, having worked with programs including ICLEI’s Clean Air Climate Protection software to produce carbon inventories and management strategies according to Local Governments Operations Protocol (LGOP) and the World Resources Institute (WRI) GHG Protocols. He believes that the business case for sustainability exists, but is different, for every organization, and most potently rests in the organization’s ability to include sustainability at the strategic level, systematizing its principles into daily decision-making.
